Would Black Friday Marijuana Last Long Enough to be a Stocking Stuffer?
People desperately fought for the best deals they could find yesterday on the biggest shopping day of the year. Recreational marijuana outlets joined in the offerings of discounted prices as well, and in Las Vegas it was their very first Black Friday since recreational marijuana prohibition ended in Nevada.
Stories abound about how good of a stock stuffer marijuana would be, but the truth is that any cannabis purchased on Black Friday would not likely make it to Christmas unless it was very well preserved and people could control themselves enough not to smoke it beforehand. The marketing concepts undoubtedly worked and people will be anxious to see just how much marijuana was purchased on Black Friday.
“I’m Black Friday shopping for marijuana,” said Smith, a hint of shock in his voice, as he waited outside the The+Source marijuana dispensary near Sahara Avenue and Rainbow Boulevard.
At Essence Cannabis Dispensary on South Las Vegas Boulevard, people lined up around the the corner awaiting the store’s 10 a.m. opening.
“They’re very excited. We’re fully staffed, all the registers going. It’s fun for them,” Essence CEO Armen Yemenidjian said. “And it’s historic for us to be able to be part of Black Friday.”
“I think we’re collectively celebrating the end of prohibition,” said Andrew Jolley, CEO of The+Source. “What it means for the cannabis movement and overcoming the unjustified stigmas of the past. I’m excited for all of those reasons.”
But for the cannabis shops and the rest of the retail industry, Friday was all about cashing in on the post-Thanksgiving buying blitz with deals. In place of 50-inch TVs and the newest video game systems were discounted marijuana flower strains and edibles, buy-one-get one free sales, even some free cannabis.
There have been many marijuana accessories invented lately that might make good stock stuffers though. There is all sorts of interesting paraphernalia for people to buy now and devices that make cannabutter or machines like keurigs that make personal use concentrates. Are you considering giving away some sort of cannabis related product this year for the holidays?
