Currently residing at “Cannabition,” Las Vegas marijuana museum which is set to officially open this month, “Bongzilla” is a fully functioning 24 foot tall, 800 pound beast of a bong. The massive piece boasts a 100 gallon reservoir with a massive bowl that can hold a quarter of a pound of premium weed. The bong is also said to glow a greenish hue when backlit. Touted as the world’s largest bong, the piece is a work of art from a Seattle based glass company, Jerome Baker Designs, and the brainchild of artist Jason Harris.
‘Bongzilla’, Cannabition Museum, Las Vegas, marijuana museum, bong, weed newsHarris has said that creating this mammoth bong took the combined help of 15 people blowing glass for eight hours a day during a four day stint. Once the piece was finished it had to be taken apart, specially packed, and transported from its birthplace in Seattle to its new home in the Las Vegas weed museum which Harris claims is the “perfect home” for his baby stating: “Las Vegas will be the new Amsterdam of the world…I see it as a big lighthouse and beacon that says, ‘Just smoke me.”
The founder of Cannabition, J.J. Walker, confirmed that it took several days to put Bongzilla back together and place it in its permanent location at the museum after the pieces were delivered from Seattle. Reassembling the various components required the use of a special adhesive agent that would keep the bong in one piece while still allowing the smoke to flow freely (IF the piece is ever used). Employees were also said to have built a custom scaffolding in order to secure the bong to the nearby railing so that it would not move. Recently, a mural backdrop of Tokyo was added to Bongzilla’s display to go along with the “Godzilla” theme.

However there are now plenty of recreational dispensaries to choose from in the area so you won’t be lacking a good selection for where to go to get your next stash. Despite cannabis not being available for sale or use on premises, similar to all dispensaries across the country, you have to be 21 or older to be able to enter the Cannabition Cannabis Museum so make sure you bring along your ID.
Interestingly, Nevada state Senator Tick Segerblom, was quoted as saying that he envisions a day when people can legally use this oversized bong. Segerblom, a vocal advocate for legalizing cannabis, said about Bongzilla: “It’s what we do best here, and it fits in well with our party and outlaw image…But I’m also hoping it makes people aware that Las Vegas is the perfect place for the cannabis culture and, if we can pull this off, it will become a major focal point for us.”
Would you ever dare to take a rip off of a bong as big as Bongzilla?
