Hong Kong’s Youth Embraces Marijuana
Despite China‘s very strict and draconian laws against cannabis possession and use, Hong Kong’s rebellious youth has been throwing caution to the wind and lighting up whenever they can. While possession of the herb can potentially lead to imprisonment for seven years and cost you over $100k in associated fines, those found actually growing the plant itself can serve up to fifteen years and will pay significantly more when it comes to their fines. Regardless of the fact that the price of getting caught is more than most are able to pay (financially or otherwise) younger generations of residents are seemingly not intimidated by their government’s efforts to outlaw marijuana.
