Growing your own weed
One of the coolest things that has come from marijuana legalization is that of the 30 states that have legalized medical marijuana and the 9 states and D.C. that have legalized recreational marijuana, a bunch of them allow you to grow your own weed at home! All of the adult-use states, except Vermont, allow anyone over 21 to grow pot at home. And if you have a medical marijuana card, you can grow your own weed in Arizona, Montana, Hawaii, Michigan, New Mexico, North Dakota, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington, and when Oklahoma finalizes their laws, you will be able to there too! Now, each state has its own rules about how much you can grow and some have zoning limits, so make sure to check out your state’s laws about home grown weed before getting your proverbial green thumb going. Growing good weed takes gardening to a whole new fun level though, so if you are interested in exploring growing your own weed, check out our article, “Tips For First Time Cannabis Growers” on TMNews.com.

Understanding CB receptors and how they connect with cannabinoids
The brain has what are called CB receptors that are part of our endo-can-ab-in-oyd system, so we know that cannabis does affect the brain. But whenever a medical professional gets into the conversation, they almost always say the same thing, that there is no scientific data supporting these claims that cannabis has changed peoples lives for the better. The one thing that has happened is that the FDA has approved a drug called epid-ee-o-lex which is the first marijuana derived drug ever approved and is intended to reduce seizures in patients with epileptic conditions like Dravet Syndrome. In the meantime, all else is still considered conjecture technically, but if you understand how the cannabinoid system fundamentally works, you can draw your own conclusions about the potential mental health benefits of cannabis consumption. Check out our article, “The Mental Health Benefits Of CBD” to learn more. And, if you have any stories about how medical marijuana has helped you, please let us know. We love hearing your stories, we may even feature it on TNMNews.com and post it across our social media properties.

Cannabis Cooking Basics
So I just can’t stop talking about food. I don’t know what it is, but I love food and cooking with weed is just sooooo much fun. I started thinking about all of the wonderful recipes I have mentioned in my past broadcasts and realized that none of them ever really talk about the basics all that much. They assume you already have marijuana infused butter or oil. You know what I mean? They don’t tell you how to make cannabutter, or cannabis oil, the real foundations of any delicious meal. Like, have you ever heard of decarbing before? It is the necessary process to extract THC and other cannabinoids from weed to actually get you stoned after you eat your carefully crafted cannabis masterpiece. If you are going to cook with weed, how can you not know about decarbing? If you want to stay on the healthier side, you can even use coconut or avocado oil when infusing marijuana. So, we put together an article called, “Weed Recipes: 4 Easy Cannabis Basics” to help you get started and expand your repertoire of weed recipes. With this knowledge, you could lift nearly any meal you ever eat if you wanted to.

Jim Belushi and the Blues Brothers Weed Strains
And finally, here is a little celebrity news for you. I am sure all of you know who the late John Belushi is, the amazing funny comedian who starred in SNL, Animal House and also the Blues Brothers. Well his brother, Jim Belushi, also a very very funny man, has his own marijuana farm in Oregon. He launched his new line of cannabis dispensaries this year called Vault and recently announced that he will be introducing some new strains of cannabis to the market. They will all be named after a Blues Brothers theme in honor of his brother who was famous for his love of weed. Jim promotes the medicinal benefits of marijuana more than anything else though and believes that marijuana legalization is the key to ending the opioid-epidemic in our country. Keep your eyes open for some new strains of cannabis coming from Vault!
