Sean O’Malley Shows Off His New Weed Strain At UFC 222 After-Party
“Sugar” Sean O’Malley made his much-anticipated debut at UFC 222 on Saturday night, and despite an impressive victory, his exploits in the octagon weren’t the only highlights of the night. One of the more noteworthy moments of the 23-year-old’s night actually came after the much-anticipated event, when O’Malley got the chance to show off his custom new weed strain at the UFC 222 after-party.
Sean O’Malley’s Strain
It’s no coincidence that Sean O’Malley happens to Snoop Dogg’s favorite new fighter.
The fighter first made a name for himself back in July with a one-punch knockout of Alfred Khashakyan on “Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series.”
He later celebrated by smoking up with Snoop.
Fast forward eight months and the fighter is now making waves in both the UFC and amongst the cannabis community.
Despite injuring his foot in the third round of his debut fight with fellow bantamweight Andre Soukhamthath, O’Malley managed to cruise to a victory with a dominating performance.
Following the gutsy win, the now-undefeated fighter used some of his own herbal remedies to facilitate a recovery.
O’Malley was, unsurprisingly, seen toking up through a golden glove spliff some time after the event, with what we presume to be the strain he said he would debut following the contest.
The customized bud is, according to O’Malley, a hybrid between Lemonhead and OG92.
“We’re releasing the new strain, Suga Show OG,” O’Malley said in an interview with TMZ Sports earlier in the week.
“It’s a mix between Lemonhead and OG 92. I think they’re going to bring a good amount of that. They’re gonna have dab rigs set up. We’re gonna have a juice bar. The ultimate recovery: Smoking some weed and drinking some veggies.”
While UFC president Dana White confirmed Saturday night that O’Malley did not suffer a broken foot in his contest, there’s no doubt Suga Show OG won’t help it’s creator throughout the recovery process, nonetheless.
Final Hit: Sean O’Malley Shows Off His New Weed Strain At UFC 222 After-Party
While some might be surprised at the young gun’s willingness to show off his toking habits in his first professional fight, it shouldn’t come as that much of a shock to those who closely follow the UFC.
The UFC remains one of the more progressive sporting leagues when it comes to smoking weed, as it essentially allows its players to smoke—as long as it’s not right before a fight.
In recent weeks, we’ve seen it’s biggest star, Conor McGregor, checking out an Amsterdam dispensary in plain sight.
More telling, however, has been the Diaz brothers and their lust for cannabis. A few weeks back, we saw Nate Diaz smoke a joint on live television.
Although the younger Diaz brother has been suspended for his weed usage in the past, it appears he could be eyeing a comeback. With today’s lax rules, we could see him in the octagon sooner, rather than later.
After all, it’s not like his older brother, Nick, has been secretive about his own cannabis usage, either.
So in what appears to be the first major sporting league to embrace the plant’s medicinal qualities, the talented Sean O’Malley appears to have a place in the UFC—both in and out of the octagon.
