Hustler Publisher Attacks Trump’s Opioid Commission

Hustler Magazine founder Larry Flynt believes there is something seriously wrong with the idea of President Trump declaring the opioid crisis a “national emergency,” while his attorney general, Jeff Sessions, continues to wage a federal war against legal marijuana.
In the latest holiday issue of Hustler Magazine, Flynt, an avid proponent of the First Amendment, takes to the pages of his more than four-decade-old publication to express his disdain for the twisted logic of the Trump administration when it comes to remedying the national drug crisis.
Larry Flynt Wields His Pen
Flynt writes, “Attorney General Jeff Sessions is waging a federal war on states that have legalized marijuana for recreational consumption. Meanwhile, Trump has declared the opioid crisis to be a national emergency. What is wrong with this picture?”
In our opinion, Larry, everything!
The official statement from the infamous Hustler publisher calls attention to a federally funded study that shows how opioid-related deaths are actually on the decline in states with legal marijuana on the books.
Based on this data, Flynt confesses to being somewhat perplexed by the thought of a federal government anxious to take down and destroy legal weed, while scratching their collective heads trying to figure out how to stop people from killing themselves with prescription painkillers.
“Marijuana has been used successfully to treat chronic pain in patients with cancer and other serious illnesses, and no one has ever overdosed on cannabis,” he wrote. “But none of this evidence puts a dent in Sessions’ backward brain, who mused that, ‘Good people don’t smoke marijuana.’”
Hustler Publisher vs. U.S. Attorney General
That’s when Flynt suggests that Sessions must have been living under a rock for the past several decades, as many American heroes have a positive connection to marijuana.
“Maybe he’s never heard of these successful pot partakers: Richard Branson, Michael Bloomberg, Ted Turner, Stephen King, Arnold Schwarzenegger and even Barack Obama—not to mention all of the famous artists and musicians who toke regularly,” he wrote.
Flynt goes on to make his case regarding the safety of marijuana by citing a report published by the Brookings Institution, which discredits Sessions’ outrageous claims that legal pot has caused an uprising in traffic fatalities and minor consumption.
The study, which was penned by John Hudak, senior fellow of governance studies, makes it clear that the federal government is still serving up a healthy dose of propaganda, according to Flynt’s statement.
“This report by law enforcement agencies with a vested interest in continuing the drug war is bogus,” he wrote. “The conclusions are not supported by the data.”
But what’s worse than Sessions trying to bamboozle the American people into believing that marijuana is causing a veritable Thunderdome in states where the herb is now being taxed and regulated in a manner similar to alcohol, is the fact that Trump, who now has a $10 million bounty on his head thanks to the Hustler founder, put none of the blame on Big Pharma when finally making the opioid crisis a nation emergency.
“Trump’s failure to mention Big Pharma is like attacking gambling and extortion rackets without mentioning the Mafia, or crystal meth without mentioning Mexican drug cartels,” Flynt wrote. “The President’s plan will address all of the symptoms, but not the root cause of the problem: Big Pharma’s greed and deception.”
Final Hit: Hustler Publisher Attacks Trump’s Opioid Commission
Instead of Trump calling out the real cutthroat hooligans in the opioid crisis, Flynt is convinced that “he’s letting his throwback attorney general wage war against the one cheap, totally safe alternative to these highly addictive and deadly drugs—cannabis.”
As it stands, opioids are killing tens of thousands of people every year (64,000 in 2016 alone), while marijuana, a substance that Uncle Sam maintains has no medicinal value, has killed none.
Flynt’s statement concludes by tugging on the hypocritical ears of Attorney General Jeff Sessions, demanding that he and his goons over at the U.S. Department of Justice stop trying to build a case against legal marijuana and set their sights on the pharmaceutical industry instead.
“Stop cherry-picking the data for your backward prohibition crusade, Jeff, and go after the truly dangerous drug pushers,” Flynt wrote.
