High Times presents an exclusive video premiere of “Black Cadillac” by Hollywood Undead from their brand new album Five. The blazing track from the Cali quintet features none other than the OG weed rapper himself, B-Real, doing what he does best: spitting rhymes and puffing tough.
Five debuted on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart at number 22 and number 7 on the Top Current Albums Sales Chart. The album title holds a deep significance for the band, which is made up of five members—Johnny 3 Tears, J-Dog, Charlie Scene, Funny Man and Danny—and is their fifth full-length offering.
“We’re five brothers,” Johnny 3 Tears said. “Nothing gets to the essence of the music like this number does. Numerology has a lot of power. When we said Five, it just made sense. The fact that we could all agree on one word codifies who we are.”
Behind the Music: Filming ‘Black Cadillac’
Filming in multiple locations, Hollywood Undead worked with director Brian Cox to create the video for “Black Cadillac.”
J-Dog told High Times: “We haven’t done a straight-up hip-hop song like this in a while, so this song made sense, and we got B-Real on it who we all grew up listening to. It was an honor to have him participate.”
It wasn’t easy though, J-Dog continued, “Filming the video was a bitch! Brian Cox had to find a black Cadillac in nowhere Minnesota. Then we filmed shots in The Rave in Milwaukee, at a cemetery in Pennsylvania and on a green screen in Calgary, Canada. But it was all worth it.”
Hollywood Undead: Five On Fire
Hollywood Undead catapulted onto the scene in 2005 with their arresting mix of hip-hop, rock and metalcore.
Five, which dropped on October 27, has already received major recognition. In addition to “Black Cadillac,” the band has released four other tracks from Five. Together the videos have amassed over 15 million combined views. Check out the vids for “California Dreaming,” “Whatever It Takes,” “Renegade” and “We Own The Night.”
