Cheech & Chong Throw in the Towel, Marijuana Too Mainstream
In celebration of the 40th anniversary of Up In Smoke, the legendary duo of Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong stopped by Late Night with Stephen Colbert earlier this week to talk about their new passions in life now that marijuana use has become so recently mainstream. According to the pair, marijuana has lost its “edge” with the likes of former speaker John Boehner, a previously staunch and vocal anti-cannabis republican, becoming part of the board of advisors at Acreage Holdings (a cannabis investment company) claiming that his “…thinking on cannabis has evolved.” In light of these changes, the marijuana cultural icons are considering retirement from stoner comedy and moving on to more edgier stuff like burning leaves without permits or smuggling and indulging in unpasteurized dairy products!
Check out the hilarious video clip below and you can find the 40th anniversary edition of Up In Smoke at a retailer near you!
With marijuana becoming widely embraced and legalized, Cheech & Chong are quitting stoner comedy to focus on other activities that still fly in the face of the law.
Watch The Late Show with Stephen Colbert weeknights at 11:35 PM ET/10:35 PM CT. Only on CBS.
