Colorado marijuana regulations are a-changing, and you have a chance to weigh in.
The state Marijuana Enforcement Division has opened a window up to Oct. 16 for public comment on the new draft rules.
There are a number of additions for businesses and individuals seeking to conduct cannabis research in Colorado, in areas including clinical applications and study of pesticide use. There are new rules for licensing, research facilities and transfer of marijuana produced in-state that will be used for studies.

Other changes include labeling and packaging requirements, and rules for transfer of marijuana products before they reach the retail market. There are also tweaks that reflect new products on the market, including heat/pressure-based marijuana concentrate manufacturing.
The state’s regulations are hefty in number: Including the existing regs, there are 201 pages of guidelines for recreational marijuana and 218 pages for medical marijuana. The proposed changes are marked in red type.
The Colorado Department of Revenue, which oversees MED, is accepting written comments until 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16. The rule comment form can be downloaded here.
A public hearing is scheduled for Oct. 16, starting at 9 a.m. at DOR facilities at 17301 W. Colfax Ave. in Golden. Additional information can be found at the 2017 MED rulemaking page.
The proposed rules were drafted in a series of stakeholder work-group meetings conducted in August and September.
