SALT LAKE CITY — Utah police say a man hailed an Uber during a wild chase that ended with officers finding 15 packages of marijuana in the car he’d been riding in.
A Salt Lake County jail booking statement released Thursday says 28-year-old Allen Elseth was taken into custody after a state trooper smelled marijuana at an accident scene.
Documents say Elseth ran across Interstate 80 after the officer let him out to urinate and jumped a barbed-wire topped fence into an airport parking lot.

He waited there for an Uber SUV, but it was stopped by two troopers.
Authorities say Elseth climbed on top of the driver and hit the gas, but the lawmen hung on until they stopped the car and subdued him with a Taser.
No attorney was immediately listed for Elseth.
