A woman accused of running a massive marijuana grow with her husband in Keenesburg and laundering money to help pay for it could enter a plea in the case in January.

The arrest of Michelle Goodwin, 42, came in March, about three months after that of her husband, Gary Goodwin, 39, who in December was charged with two drug felonies and money laundering. Michelle Goodwin now faces the same set of charges. At the time of Gary Goodwin’s arrest, police also arrested Steven Hanson, 57, who they say had a role in what they dubbed the Goodwin Family Drug Trafficking Organization.

Affidavits for the arrest of the three state the Goodwins lived at 26490 Weld County Road 16, near Interstate 76 between Keenesburg and Hudson. Their property included a home, as well as an 8,000-square-foot garage where police say the grow — which consisted of 379 marijuana plants, 70 pounds of the drug and 12 pounds of edibles — operated.

Weld County Drug Task Force officers heard about the grow from a confidential informant in September 2016. The informant told them the Goodwins had been growing marijuana there for at least a year. The task force mounted a two-month investigation, which culminated in a raid of the Goodwin’s property in December. Officers found 17 firearms and a large amount of ammunition, as well as $1,200 in cash and books on growing marijuana, in addition to the vast amount of the drug itself. Goodwin and Hanson each told police the other person was responsible for the operation. Police arrested them both.
