Francis Ford Coppola Launches Cannabis Brand
Francis Ford Coppola, the legendary Academy Award-winning director of films like “The Godfather” saga, “Apocalypse Now,” and many other major films over his storied career is also known for his popular lifestyle brand named “Francis Ford Coppola Presents.” The lifestyle brand which consists of restaurants and resorts also includes a line of fine wines bottled at the Francis Ford Coppola Winery near Geyserville, California. Looking to expand on his already impressive brand, Coppola has just announced a new partnership with local cannabis producers, Humboldt Brothers, to launch his very own brand of marijuana, unsurprisingly called “Coppola Cannabis” (apparently the guy REALLY likes to put his name on everything).
Working hand in hand with the California-based Humboldt Brothers, the product line named “The Grower’s Series” will consist of three one-gram samples of cannabis flower that are contained in special tins that are shaped like wine bottles. “Wine and cannabis are two ancient and bounteous gifts of Mother Nature, linked by great care, terroir and temperateness…Expertise making one applies to the other.” “As with growing grapes, location matters, and The Grower’s Series reflects California agricultural expertise creating a true blend of art and science.” The filmmaker said of the exciting new business venture in a press release that was issued earlier this week.

Coppola’s new brand is highly influenced by his notable experience with fine winemaking with each gram of cannabis flower in The Grower’s Series having come from a different strain (indica, sativa, and hybrid) which has been grown at varying elevations and climates in order to cultivate different aromas, flavors, as well as properties, in a process that is very similar to how winemakers decide on where they will grow ultimately their grapes. “Each strain offers a unique experience that reflects the diverse Humboldt County microclimates. There is an uplifting and creative sativa-dominant strain that is cultivated at Tan Oak Farms (elevation 1,700 feet) where the climate is warm from continuous sunshine. An indica-dominant strain that relaxes the body and mind is nurtured at Benbow Farm (elevation 600 feet). And a truly hybrid experience influencing enhanced mood and focus is grown at the Salmon Creek Farm (elevation 2,400 feet) where this strain benefits from cooler temperatures and diverse soil.”
Just in time for the holidays, lucky enthusiasts living in Northern California will be able to pre-order or find the new line of cannabis from certain California dispensaries starting later this month.
